Today I did and upgrade using pacman -Syu. I noticed a bunch of plasma 6 stuff buy I saw no errors during the process.
I rebooted and I did not recognize my desktop. The resolution was wrong, and nothing would work (load). Nothing. The only exception was the thingy in the upper right corner of the screen that allowed a reboot or shutdown.
So, I went to tty6 and ran pacman again. There were about 15 packages that were upgraded and now I can't even boot. I enter my password at the login screen and the screen goes black for about 10 seconds and then returns to the login screen.
I have no idea where to go from here.

Oh, and yes, I'm using an nVidia card with their driver.

What 'login screen' are we talking about? What are you trying to start?

When I start the computer, I get the grub screen asking what I want to start. That works. I chose Arch and I get a screen showing my user name asking for my password. That's the one that just loops.

That doesn't really help, which software are you using for that? Inference from KDE might be SDDM, but this isn't a given and Archers should be able to assert the exact package in use. In any case, switch to the xorg session explicitly, wayland became the default. -- Or try out wayland by setting the nvidia-drm.modeset=1 kernel option.

Alright. I believe it's SDDM. It's a blue screen with a sign in centered. Without being able to get the desktop up, how can I tell?
KDE will not start whether I use Xorg or Wayland.
I did find that I can log into the Gnome desktop using Xorg. This means I can use the computer, that is if I can figure out how Gnome works.
I would, however, like to find the problem to assist in helping to get it fixed.
