Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

Hi everyone ^^
I've been exploring Arch-based distributions like Manjaro and EndeavourOS for a while, but I recently made the switch to Arch last month. I'm excited to join this forum and learn from the experienced users here. I'm drawn to Arch's flexibility and the vastness of the AUR. I'm looking forward to customizing my system and contributing to the community as I learn more.
Nice to meet you all

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

Hi ! Its been less than a week that I started using Arch -- and Linux xD

Thanks a lot to my friend with which I changed my laptop's ssd and installed arch, about 9 hours spent  to do it all smile

New to arch --I was thinking that it was a great idea to follow my friends advice and give it a try even though the sole OS I used before was windows smile))))))
I shall persist and try a lot I guess xD

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

Hello world.
It has been one or two year since I have been using Arch. I don't remember how I was introduced to it. But it was also my first ever Linux distro! They say the learning curve is steep if it's your first distro and it is true.

Additionally I have become the kind of person that tells others to use Arch and Vim.

Vim can  be horrible when  doing most in c&p, so not forget nano, which sometimes is better than  vim.
Arch for very beginner or those using X most time is not recommended but the only one for these discovering CLI and courses :O)

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

Hello everyone! I recently installed Arch using Archinstaller because I'm not that good yet, and I joined the forum hoping to know fellow arch users smile
In my profile you can find my Signal link in case you wanna chat.
My history with Linux is:
- Putting Ubuntu 10 years ago, regretting it and never touching Linux again
- Installing Manjaro (out of advice) 2 months ago because I wanted to escape Windows botnet and they told me it was good for games.
- After 2 months, I just thought of using the real thing and put Arch btw on my machine. In some things it's very similar to Manjaro (obviously) so I am used to it and loving it.
Performance for games I play is also very good so I'm overall very happy smile

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

Hello there,

Coming back to linux/arch after about a decade of being away. Feels good, to have a prompt again. Recently been learning the lay of the land so to speak. Few things have changed for sure. Sometimes i regret shaving my unix beard.

"U-Boot does not support the recently released Raspberry Pi 5. In turn, Arch Linux ARM does not support the Raspberry Pi 5 since the Pi 5’s CPU cores only support booting in 64-bit mode and Arch Linux ARM’s aarch64 Raspberry Pi image relies on U-Boot."

Still true?

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

yxcv, you're asking a support question for ArchlinuxARM in a non-support thread of a non-ArchLinuxARM forum.  What kind of answer are you hoping to get?  Go ask on archlinuxarm.com.

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

Hello everyone,

I'm new to Archlinux, have used LM and KDENeon before but only for a month or so before deciding that Arch plus KDE6 was the way to go.  I'm a 35+ year user of Microsoft DOS and Windows, but did dabble in Xenix about 25 years ago.

I'm using Arch/KDE6 on a 2011 Macbook Pro, i5 gen 2 and 16Gb RAM with the obligatory SSD installed.

Cheers smile

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

Hi all! Still in the process of adjusting and configuring my install; this is my first time actually using Arch regularly outside of mucking around with a VM. Been dabbling with Linux for a few years now and decided to take the plunge.
