Headset microphone not working
I'm still new to arch linux, and I'm having difficulty configuring my gaming headset to work on my hp elitebook 8570w.
I can hear sound from the headphones just fine without configuration, but I cannot use the built in headset mic.
I tried to run
arecord -land I get the following output

active port: <analog-input-mic>At this point I'm not entirely sure what to do because it kind of falls within a gray zone of what the wiki says.
When I open pavucontrol it shows "Microphone (unplugged)", neither my internal microphone or headset seem to work despite both of them being unmuted in alsamixer.
Any kind of help would be appreciated 
P.S I have tested this headset on a windows machine and both the microphone and headphones work.
