Noise from internal mic

Hello. I'm having problems with audio in my pipewire setup on a laptop.
The built-in microphone works but is very noisy and the one connected via the audio jack is not detected. The same goes if I try to use an external sound card. Bluetooth audio seems to work fine.
I'm not seeing any problems on out-of-stock Ubuntu.

$ amixer
Simple mixer control 'Master',0
  Capabilities: pvolume pvolume-joined pswitch pswitch-joined
  Playback channels: Mono
  Limits: Playback 0 - 65536

Simple mixer control 'Capture',0
  Capabilities: cvolume cvolume-joined cswitch cswitch-joined
  Capture channels: Mono
  Limits: Capture 0 - 65536
  Mono: Capture 65536 [100%] [on]

Alsamixer shows pipiwire as default soundcard.

Here my soundcard:

Re: Noise from internal mic

To get to the actual mixer controls despite the presence of  pipewire you'd do

amixer -c1
amixer -c2

respectively. Chances you have a Mic Boost or so overdriving, which you should indeed tone down/toggle from the relevant amixer/ALSA level.

FWIW for completeness sake in addition to those two, during an actual recording attempt what do you get from

pactl list sources
pactl list source-outputs
