Re: Segmentation fault while trying to update

Also revisiting this topic because of the above mentioned problems reoccurring.
I've seen the commit and tried updating the pacman first, so that it maybe wouldn't crash when doing a full update, but the pacman version (pacman-6.0.2-9) in the repository is out of date (and marked as such)... I guess I could maybe compile it myself, but sadly I don't have the time for that these days. Maybe another one can try if the pacman version in the repo gets updated in time.

Re: Segmentation fault while trying to update

I haven't updated pacman or localisation for it just yet. But I'm a bit closer to figuring out why it's happening. As it just happened again.
It's something to do with optional choices. First I thought it was just about confirming if you want to replace one package with another; the Slovene translation uses "s/z" instead of with and the slash made me suspicious if it might somehow affect the seg fault.
But at current update, instead of replace with I just had straight-up multiple choice for one package, and it still failed. So I think there's something to do with that.
I'll try to look into localisation docs to see what could be the culprit. And I might try to recompile pacman with updated localisation.
But in the mean time others can at least try to pinpoint the bug easier. (hopefully)

Re: Segmentation fault while trying to update

Do you not get a https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Core_d … _core_dump ?
Along https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Debuginfod you should see the precise location where this fails and then we can look at the relevant code for involved strings.

Re: Segmentation fault while trying to update

No point figuring it out...   It was a bad translation string for the provider selection dialog.  It was fixed by the pacman team ages ago.   pacman-6.1.0 (in [testing]) is fixed.

Re: Segmentation fault while trying to update

It's caused by "XferCommand" line enabled in pacman.conf. Somehow there's a permissions issue with using wget or curl. "#" the line out and try again.
