Goodmorning,
After updating yesterday, my system fails to start KDE/plasma, ending with 'Failed to find command for session "/usr/share/wayland-sessions/plasma.desktop"
XFCE work though...
I do see posts here with similar problems (no starting of plasma) but because of this specific error it does appear to be a different issue.
The part of journalctl where the error appears is:
Mar 15 09:41:52 alexarch sddm[713]: Failed to find command for session "/usr/share/wayland-sessions/plasma.desktop"
Mar 15 09:41:55 alexarch sddm-greeter-qt6[813]: Reading from "/usr/share/xsessions/xfce.desktop"

Thanks for any hints on how to proceed here.
Alex.
PS As for some additional information:
I had more problems, since the system crashed during the upgrade; I cannot tell if it was an independent event or because of the upgrade.
But after that, also dbus failed to start and I had to go back to dbus-daemon-units ( which did solve that problem).

Perhaps check /var/log/pacman.log for something that went wrong..
Without looking at source, I do not gather much from the one (old, closed) issue I found in SDDM, https://github.com/sddm/sddm/issues/316
but seeing my /usr/share/wayland-sessions/plasma.desktop includes
[Desktop Entry]
Exec=/usr/lib/plasma-dbus-run-session-if-needed /usr/bin/startplasma-wayland
TryExec=/usr/bin/startplasma-wayland
I wonder if it cannot find those on your system, which might suggest to reinstall plasma-workspace.

This is still https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=293909
The outputs there are a bit confusing since plasma-workspace showed a truckload of erros on direct inspection, but not up in the global health check - what does not add up.

Hi Espresso and Seth,
, which might suggest to reinstall plasma-workspace.
I did now reinstall plasma-workspace, as well as kwin and plasma-meta ( as referenced in the other post Seth mentions), and my problem is solved,
So I will mark it solved, altoough I cannot say 100% definitely which part solved this specific problem (since I had multiple problems after a crash during major pacman -Suy , which I probably not should have done from within KDE :-) )
Thanks for your help!
Alex.

You should not have done "pacman -Suy" anywhere, ever but the crash is more likely because of https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/77789
Try to add
sudo touch /etc/do-not-udevadm-trigger-on-update
