Weird disk space reporting, running out quickly?

Hi all, something weird is going on with my drives.
They seem to be running out of space too quickly, I was hoping someone could help me understand.

df -H outputs

Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
dev 34G 0 34G 0% /dev
run 34G 1.8M 34G 1% /run
efivarfs 132k 51k 76k 41% /sys/firmware/efi/efivars
/dev/nvme0n1p2 21G 16G 4.2G 80% /
tmpfs 34G 56M 34G 1% /dev/shm
tmpfs 34G 16M 34G 1% /tmp
/dev/nvme1n1p1 984G 934G 69M 100% /mnt/storage
/dev/nvme0n1p1 536M 77M 460M 15% /boot
/dev/nvme0n1p3 845G 9.6G 792G 2% /home
tmpfs 6.7G 50k 6.7G 1% /run/user/1000

So first thing that pops up is you can see it has 50G free, why is it saying theres 69M "availble"?

sudo ncdu /mnt/storage:

Total disk usage: 869.2 GiB Apparent size: 868.9 GiB Items: 202,493

Why does it report as lower for ncdu?

Also my main drive looks like it has a good 4G left, so why is my OS complaining it can't even open files in certain apps?

Re: Weird disk space reporting, running out quickly?

ext4 root reserve? (disable with tune2fs -m 0)

otherwise generic filesystem overhead, and then just whatever is taking up your space (ncdu should help find the culprits if it's something unexpected)

if any files were deleted recently, they'll continue to occupy space if there is any running process that still has a filehandle on them. but this should be gone after reboot at the latest, so people usually don't ask about it.
