How can we help Arch?

Hello everybody.

Often, people do want to help. Just they often dont know where to start off, making packages, helping on the tool development with patches, writing documentation, translating or similar things.

How about a little guideline, how a user can help the Arch distribution, according to the skills the person has.

Where is help needed? Where are you lacking on resources? What should be done?

I've been around for a while now (about two years), and often wondered how to help. I've done packages, which got adobted some day be TUs or i abdoned them (before aur), looked into the bugs database, read mailing lists, was around helping other users on irc.

Definitely things which won't bring arch much forward.

I'm not good at writing out these things, but I'll give a rough overview that someone can make a little better:

How you can help: · I know alot about linux: help out here or on IRC. New users always struggle on something. Help is always appreciated.
· I am a good programmer: help out with some of the arch specific utilities. Some current ones that could use a hand: pacbuild (python), pacman (c), mkinitcpio (bash) to name a few
· I'm good at fixing things: Great. Check out the bug tracker. See if you can reproduce some errors. If possible, try to find the root cause and provide information. Even better if you can fix the actual problem, but every bit of information helps.
· I like to build things: Cool. Try packaging. It's not all that difficult. Make some packages you think people will like, and stick them up on the AUR. You might even want to try to become a TU
