(moved from another thread)
i'm experiencing a bug on ktorrent which exhaust something on the kernel fs layer and after a day or so running I will get IO errors for everything. cannot even spaw the TTY (i can switch ttys, and things that are running mostly run... but that only gets the ability to move from blank tty back to my now-useless graphical tty, since IO is dead)
if i do happen to have a shell open i just get "IO errors" for everything as the shell cannot even fopen the binaries. I can probably just run built-in commands.
pressing the power button on a blank tty will show "cannot start shutdown binary" or something like that. only long pressing power off resolves this. and obviously, nothing on the logs.
I cannot get anything on any log. Which hint that whatever happens, happens before anything can be logged.
I DO NOT get the error if I run ktorrent in `firejail`, which I should have been doing from day one.
firejail --whitelist=~/.config/ktorrent\* ktorrentabove will run for days. but a simple `ktorrent` will crash the system in unknown ways. Even after a crash, there's no file corruption anywhere that I can see (or re-running ktorrent is repairing the bad shards automatically and silently?)
firejail doesn't complain about it trying to access/do anything that got blocked. So I also do not know what it is helping with.
Less than trying to fix ktorrent, i would like more to understand what the heck is happening that get me IO errors everywhere as i suspect the SSD firmware to be less than good.
