[Solved] Unresponsive KDE Plasma 6 desktop after update

When I update my system and reboot, I am able to login with SDDM, the splash screen runs but then I arrive on a frozen desktop. The panel is frozen - clicks are not responsive, but I can see the computer is running otherwise because conky continues to function properly. The only way I can run apps is by calling krunner via keyboard shortcut. Everything else works okay except for the frozen desktop.
My suspicion is plasma so here is #journalctl -b -1 | grep plasma:

Anyway to fix this?
For the meantime I downgraded my system to 30 March (last working date before I went away on holiday) as I need to do some work.
Let me know if there's any other info I can add.

This probably isn't your problem, but this sounds similar to something that happened to me a few months ago.  I don't remember how I figured it out, but the problem was an application launcher widget I had downloaded from store.kde.org, and had changed its settings.  I got past this by restoring a copy of ~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc from a backup.

@Section8 I deleted ~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc, rebooted and the desktop becomes responsive again. Of course I lost my desktop settings but I am able to reconfigure it back. It seems it has something to do with some widget communicating with qdbus but not entirely sure. Anyway I'll mark this as solved.
