Telegram PWA via Chrome doesn't get notifications in background

Hello!

Recently I've learnt about PWAs, so I decided to try and replace some of my desktop apps with PWAs.
I've installed Google Chrome from AUR for this, as Firefox doesn't seem to support PWAs natively for some reason (I know about the extension and the package, but it's still weird that the browser itself doesn't support it).

And everything is going pretty smooth - the PWAs install and work just fine.

However, Telegram only shows notifications in GNOME's notification center if the app actually has a window open.
I read that having Chrome running in background should be enough to receive push notifications,
I even added it to startup with the --no-startup-window option, and it's definitely running there in background, I can see its tray icon.

Did I miss a step? Do I need to install something else for PWAs to properly react to notifications? Thanks!
