No sound since today's update?

I update every couple days.
Yesterday evening I updated to

    linux: 6.8.1-arch1-1 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC 
    pipewire: 1:1.0.4-1
    wireplumber: 0.5.0-1.1

Since then pipewire isn't able to see any of my soundcards? pavucontrol and qpwgraph shows no device at all except a MIDI loopback for the latter.

If I kill pipewire and launch apps that are able to stream sound through the ALSA api directly they work so the kernel side of things seems ok. e.g. aplay -l lists everything I have.

It seems like wireplumber update can mix up the soundcard configuration profile. In pavucontrol, check if you have working profiles available under Configuration > Profile.

In pavucontrol -> configuration it says outright "no cards available for configuration".

Try this: 

sudo cp -R /usr/share/wireplumber/ /etc/

and reboot.

Wireplumber changed it's configs with version 0.5. Remove your old wireplumber directory from ~/.config and /etc and set it all up again as per documentation.

What's your output of

systemctl --user status wireplumber

Might be same issue as: here?

I had this problem also and I had no sound devices listed in the GNOME sound output settings panel. I had no directory at `~/.config/wireplumber/` (i.e so could not delete it as suggested above) and rebooting did not change anything. I fixed it by:

$ wpctl clear-default  
$ systemctl restart --user pipewire

Nothing from the above works for me so far.

$ systemctl restart --user pipewire

gives me:

Failed to connect to bus: Kein Medium gefunden

(german for "no medium found")

ps: Using the deprecated "pipewire-media-session" works.

I have the same issue. I also have no wireplumber config in /etc or ~/.config.

What works for me: Every time after logging in I have to run

$ sudo udevadm trigger

Edit: deleting ~/.local/state/wireplumber seems to fix it permanently.

Deleting ~/.local/state/wireplumber worked here too. I didn't have any custom config file either in /etc or .config.

Same here, deleting ~/.local/state/wireplumber seems to be the answer when on doesn't have custom config on /etc or .config.

Maybe worth adding to the wiki?

Booted my laptop today and had no sound. There were no output devices listed in the GNOME sound settings panel. Rebooted but no difference. Did a `rm -rf ~/.local/state/wireplumber`, rebooted, and sound worked normally again.

I think there is a bad bug somewhere in wireplumber 0.5.*
