A question on video editing applications

Hi I need an video editing program that can do:

- merge 2-3 avi files form a digital camera
- set an ogg or a wav or whatever as a background
- has some effects like text overlay
- import photos to the movie

Avidemux2 does some of those.
Lives is not bad, but it also can't do all of those.
Is Kino only for raw dv footage?
Could't get cinelerra-cvs to work. I had some issues with dependeces, and when I fixed those the app runs but I can't click on anything - like it has crashed.
Am I missing some great application or it has to be a combination of several? Thanks in advance.
