lm-sensors "coretemp" ostensibly flaky on startup

I'm using OpenRGB with the HardwareSync plugin to create some color-based temperature displays, including a CPU package temp measure using coretemp-isa-0000. It has an annoying issue where the selected sensor will sometimes swap places with iwlwifi_1-virtual-0 on startup.

See the issue I've already submitted in the official repo a while ago, which hasn't seen any activity.

Does anyone have any ideas on the possible underlying causes? As stated in the issue, my guess is that the coretemp sensor occasionally doesn't start at the right time.

I'm also open to suggestions regarding alternative RGB control programs.
