Hi,
I have got an old laptop for my youngest ... a sony vaio pcg-n505sn
It has an external cdrom drive so I had to use usb pendrive to hold live iso image as disc would boot then drop out to reduced shell [since found a kernel line that may get round this!]
Anyway managed to get DSL running on it seems ok
Goes against the grain but I may try to install Xubuntu as it does not have ethernet port only usb she does not need web access likes to use Tuxpaint Abiword Potato Guy ;-)
Weird a couple of years ago I was worried about installing Linux on my computer...now well .... I blame Arch for new found knowledge
