Hello,
since yesterday I am being plagued by issues with Baldur's Gate 3 and The Finals starting from Steam with Proton.
Although I am not sure that these issues are connected I will post it together, because they seem to have appeared at the same time.
I think it has something to do with graphic drivers, but please see for yourself.
The Finals
Issue:
Sometimes crashing at startup with following popup(especially Proton Experimental [bleeding-edge-8.0]):
At other times hanging with very high CPU load and low GPU load and either following popup or extremely long loading, which I cancel at some point (especially Proton Experimental [bleeding-edge]):
Or loading extremely long.
At other times starting fine, although getting kicked from server at points (This is currently expected behavior, according to: https://www.protondb.com/app/2073850).
Tested with:
Proton Experimental
Proton Experimental [bleeding-edge]
Proton Experimental [bleeding-edge-8.0] (not sure what the difference with this one is, but saw it recommended somewhere)
Proton 9.0-1
Steam log (grabbed with launch options: "PROTON_LOG=1 %command%", while running Proton Experimental [bleeding-edge-8.0]):
Unfortunately I ran into problems with pasting the extremely long log into the post. As such I have decided to upload the log file to https://gofile.io/d/699ylA (Feel free to suggest a different method).
The Finals end
Baldur's Gate 3 start
When selecting DX11 in Larian Launcher:
Crashing on loading screens (startup/loading saves/starting game).
When selecting Vulkan in Larian Launcher:
Direct Crash, asking me to verify Game Files every time (Verifying the files did not help), screenshot:
Tested with:
Proton Experimental
Proton 9.0-1
GE-Proton9-4
team log (grabbed with launch options: "PROTON_LOG=1 %command%", while running GE-Proton9-4, selecting Vulkan in Larian Launcher):
Unfortunately I ran into problems with pasting long log into the post. As such I have decided to upload the log file to https://gofile.io/d/n9JI43 (Feel free to suggest a different method).

Some things that might be interesting:
Driver recommendations from: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Xorg#D … stallation
Vulkaninfo output:

Both of the Programs ran without hiccups just a few days prior.
After setting up my whole System anew and still having the same problems, I am now pretty much at the end with my knowledge.
I am thankful for any help regarding this matter.
It would be nice if somebody could also inform me of a way to upload long log files to the arch forum, since there are no guarantees with external site links.
Edit 1 (240506_0101): "```" to "code" bbcode tag on system specifications
Edit 2 (240506_1851): Adapted to a more fitting subject and did set it to [SOLVED]

Thank you very much. This seems to be the problem.
Unfortunately I wont be able to revert easily, since I did forego my package cache with the reinstall.
Hopefully the revert will hit the repo fast.
Maybe I will go for being just stable in the meantime.
I will leave the Subject unedited for now, till I am able to test the reverted changes.

Thank you for mentioning it again. I wasn't aware of the BAR setting so it didn't quite catch my eye on reading the bug report.
I have now enabled BAR in the BIOS and haven't experiences any issues since.
Although I haven't tested very long, I am quite convinced that this has caused the problem so I will edit the Subject.
I appreciate the help from you two on this matter.
On another note I also want to thank V1del of the countless times he has already proven to be a savior for me unknowingly, when I have been searching up other topics.
I am sure loqs can't be too far behind with that many posts, but V1del's profile picture is just too catchy.
A nice day to you.
