Advice needed from true Arch gurus in regard of security

What options does one have with Arch in regard to virtualization, to provide more security, similarly as Qubes does with virtualization and isolation?

It's understandable that no-matter-what, Arch won't have equivalent isolation.

Also, this may not be Arch-related for some, but it is for me.

I use Arch too, btw.

Re: Advice needed from true Arch gurus in regard of security

This is a complicated and not a small topic easily summarised by a forum post, especially when the answers are out there already.

See the post linked below, its up to you how far down the rabbit hole you go, whether you implement a bare minimum protection of a firewall, user accounts with passwords, etc or a hardened kernel, sandboxed applications, etc.

With no disrespect, but this addressed for highly knowledgeable people.

The link above doesn't provide much in regarding what was asked, see https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Securi … on_options

Re: Advice needed from true Arch gurus in regard of security

As Nikolai5 explained security is a broad subject.

The idea behind arch is that you have a strong foundation with relatively up-to-date software to achieve many things including a high secure system.
Would I choose Arch if security was my main concern? Probably not since I would prefer more opinionated option.

Now, virtualization is a broad subject (are we talking hypervisor level? Process level?).
Specifically to Qubes, you can achieve the same segregation by running multiple VMs on Arch and perhaps make their underlying storage volatile.

If you need the security model the Qubes, better go with it.
If you want to harden various aspects of your Arch setup. I would start with the mentioned links and gradually progress from there (network security, storage security...)

Please, don't flood in here.

If there's some necessary info to provide for clarity, I'll be happy to, but what exactly is not clear by: "this addressed for highly knowledgeable people" and info. provided in OP, including "I use Arch too, btw."?
It's a rhetorical question.

What is not clear is what information you expect to be provided that is not already provided on the wiki.

Are you saying there are some relevant articles regarding the subject in the wiki?
If so, please enlighten me.

We need clarification on the subject, because on the face of it, the main security article, which links to various other articles would be sufficient, but you say its not and will not provide any further explanation as to why it isn't or what it actually is you are looking for.

Please describe what you want to achieve, what your goal is, as you clearly have something in mind about what you want to use and what you want to do with it, but nobody is going to be able to help you regardless of whether they're willing, knowledgable or not.

Virtualisation is not secure. Don't believe the Qubes hype.
