KDE/Qt: Unable to determine system time zone: please check your system

Hi there,

Clock widgets don't work for me under Plasma 6. The digitalclock just shows a blank space, the reason appears to be missing time zone information:

# plasmawindowed /usr/share/plasma/plasmoids/org.kde.plasma.digitalclock/

This is actually an error message from Qt6; strace does not really reveal more insight.

As far as I can tell my system configuration is fine

# timedatectl
Local time: So 2024-05-12 10:20:54 CEST
Universal time: So 2024-05-12 08:20:54 UTC
                 RTC time: So 2024-05-12 08:20:54
                Time zone: Europe/Berlin (CEST, +0200)
System clock synchronized: yes
              NTP service: active
          RTC in local TZ: no

When trying the analog clock it actually shows the string "/etc/localtime" (properly linked, ofc) as time zone...

Any idea anyone?

thx
