I have managed to setup a perfectly seamless graphical boot on X11 on my new install
I'm using hybrid graphics with Intel/nVidia but no nvidia_modeset - I run only my browser with nvidia PRIME everything else on Intel
I use the same image for
1) Plymouth (appropriately scaled)
2) SDDM
3) KDE splash screen
4) KDE Wallpaper
and have scripts to set all these for any wallpaper I choose.
I had to use sddm-plymouth.service to ensure that SDDM doesnt turn the screen black before KDE loads, then it works perfectly - absolutely no flicker or screen turning black
Now when I try to use the wayland greeter for SDDM, it gets stuck with the plymouth wallpaper showing (I know its plymouth because I have the boot wallpaper slightly desaturated).
If I press ESC, I can see the boot log and there is no error displayed.
If I enable the default sddm.service and disable the sddm-plymouth one, it works, but this causes a black screen between SDDM and KDE
Any ideas how to get this to work?
