I am not patching anything that isn't applied by Arch's kernel at this point.  If you apply that patch to linux-ck from the AUR, does it solve the issue?

so this means the patch has not made its way to the arch kernel yet.

according to the forum thread from other people affected by this issue on regular arch kernel, patching has fixed the issue for them. so it should be the same for ck kernel.

while waiting for the patch to land in repo-ck I'll try building from AUR and add the patch myself, as you suggested.
