I realise that general guidance recommends avoiding the .run installer provided by nVidia, however I'm curious to give it a try (not before a solid snapshot that I can restore from).
Without the hyperbole, what should I be prepared to deal with if I were to take this approach?
Obviously, having the appropriate kernel headers is a requirement.. but beyond that?
Don't get me wrong, the package maintainer does an excellent job (and more timely than any other distro IME). But I'm curious, and slightly eager to see how the incoming v555 release will hold up.
Not so curious as to want to trash my setup, but it seems a good opportunity to explore and rollback once the official package is available

Files not tracked by pacman. Files belonging to packages being overwritten. Different configuration files.

Why not build a 555 release package based on the existing nvidia or nvidia-beta packages?

Fair and reasonable

Probably a better approach, given the potential/likelyhood of the issues mentioned above. I can work with that.
