cant use 165hz while in dynamic mode, or change resolution in discrete

I have a legion 7 16achg6 laptop, specs:

Kernel: Linux 6.9.1-arch1-1
DE: KDE Plasma 6.0.4
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800H (16) @ 4.46 GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Mobile / Max-Q [Discrete]
Nvidia drivers: nvidia-open 550.78-4 (same issue on propreitary nvidia drivers too)

I'm unable to use 165hz while in dynamic mode (which turns on igpu and uses that), but all the different resolutions are available to me to use. However, while in discrete mode (which disables the igpu and uses the rtx 3070 only), I only have 60hz and 165hz at 2560x1600 (native resolution).
My main purpose is to use 165hz while in dynamic mode, however I would also like to use 1920x1400 while in discrete mode as this would be very useful for gaming.

I just stumbled across this post, and OP has almost the same specs as me (not sure about his gpu though), and also the same problem as me.
However, I don't understand what's going on in his thread and how they came to a solution. If anyone here is able to understand, please let me know.
