Wayland Kiosk, Chromium - HDMI connections

Hi everyone,

I installed ArchLinux, attracted to its small footprint to run on machines that are connected to TV screens to display content.

The intended user experience for the device is as follows:
1. Plug in, power, HDMI.
2. Computer boots up and starts playing media.
3. Media is downloaded in the background.
4. Remote access/monitoring enabled through SSH, VNC and web apis.
5. Simple flow to connect to a wifi network is a big plus.

I have managed to get Chromium running with a node backend to run media files via a local web page.  This is working well, and smooth. I am planning to run this for a few days, to see if it hits any memory issues or whatever.

I do have a few questions about how to proceed, if I decide to continue down this path:

1. When I disconnect the HDMI cable, Wayland quits, and reconnecting the HDMI cable reveals the terminal.  Ideally I'd like it to automatically detect/adjust to the display.  How would I achieve this?
2. Currently I am trying 'cage'.  However I'm interested in the possibility to be able to close chromium, to reveal a screen that would allow for some config options, and to re-launch the media player.  Can you recommend a compositor for this?

I'm also interested in any potential 'gotchas' or issues I might run into.

Apologies if any of my terminology is wacky, this is my first experience trying Arch/Wayland.
