[Solved] Wifi stopped working, think I broke pacman

Hi everyone,

Yesterday my laptop froze while issuing a pacman -Syyu, and I had to hard reboot it. After the reboot, I was able to issue the command again and carry on my work, but today it seems I can't connect to wifi. This is from my journalctl:

may 22 09:27:22 tuf NetworkManager[630]: <error> [1716366442.1458] device (wlo1): Couldn't initialize supplicant interface: Failed to D-Bus activate wpa_supplicant service
may 22 09:27:22 tuf NetworkManager[630]: <info>  [1716366442.1458] device (wlo1): supplicant interface keeps failing, giving up

I tried to pacman -Syyu again, but now I'm receiving this error with every single package:

error: conky: se desconoce el nivel de confianza de la firma de «Levente Polyak <anthraxx@archlinux.org>»
:: El archivo /var/cache/pacman/pkg/conky-1.21.1-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst está dañado (paquete no válido o dañado (firma PGP)).
¿Quiere eliminarlo? [S/n]
error: no se pudo realizar la operación (paquete no válido o dañado (firma PGP))
Ocurrieron errores, por lo que no se actualizarán los paquetes

Any ideas?

Re: [Solved] Wifi stopped working, think I broke pacman

For pacman error try to re-generate the keys.
Try to install the keyring package

pacman -S archlinux-keyring

If it doesnt' work

pacman-key --refresh-keys

Hi Khere,

Thank you for your answer :-)

Both commands seem to fail:

Re: [Solved] Wifi stopped working, think I broke pacman

Well, somehow I managed to solve the issue. Whenever I tried to use pacman -S, a list of conflicting files was shown. Manually deleted those files and re-installed the related package (had to use SigLevel = Never in pacman.conf). Some of the corrupted (zero size) files were /usr/share/pacman/keyrings/archlinux.gpg (from which all signing issues seemed to originate) and files from intel-media-driver. I don't know if this has something to do with the wifi card drivers (does it make sense?), but once reinstalled all these packages everything seems to be ok.

Re: [Solved] Wifi stopped working, think I broke pacman

my laptop froze while issuing a pacman -Syyu, and I had to hard reboot it

1. don't run "-Syyu", check the manpage for what the second "y" actually does and understand that you're puttung undue stress on the mirror and risk local database corruption
2. the "hard reboot" thing left you w/ a corrupted filesystem and this situation

a list of conflicting files was shown. Manually deleted those files and re-installed the related package (had to use SigLevel = Never in pacman.conf)

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Pacman … )%22_error
In your situation "pacman -S --db-only <package>" would have bee preferred since you most likely ended up w/ broken mtree's
Do NOT use "SigLevel = Never", instead fix the sysstem w/ the pacman from a  live distro: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Pacman … an_upgrade

Do you use the binary nvidia divers?

Understood!

Yeah, I do. Could it be the origin of the screen freezing? Lately I have had some issues with that, the screen freezes and I can't interact with anything, but the mouse cursor actually works.

Re: [Solved] Wifi stopped working, think I broke pacman

https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=293400
ffw - try https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/nvidia-535xx-dkms
The 550xx drivers somehow corrupt the cgroup memory which gets exposed to userspace and system trips over that when it restarts itself on updates…
