I have been using arch for 4ish month's (i dont understand much with linux yet)
Was first having issues implimenting plymouth to create a custom splash , this was peventing boot . i did somthing to fix my machine not booting.
After this i installed timeshift to backup by btrfs system , i created a before and after snapshot to test that it was working . i restored the snapshot to test that the backing up was working. System wasnt booting with the latest snapshot.i managed to restore to the snapshot that i had initially made .
I reinstalled timeshift , removed all files. I made sure to configer everything correctly and the snapshots were working , restoring the system to the times i make changes to files.
It was working for a bit until my system began to freeze and hang. I restarted my system and it wouldnt boot. Said terminating plymouth service (i dont remember exact working.)
I then was going to remove Plymouth from the grub file. Remove the quiet splash argument. But it failed to write because of insignificant space. I checked my nvme , and there is space....
I then saw that the inodes all were at 0 . to free them up i used rm and rm -r to try and remove files. But apparently i couldnt remove files because there wasnt enough space !. I have spent hours trying to detete files , even from within a linux mint live enviroment with elevated privlages. Deleting things didnt seem to free up inodes.?!
So i cant delete files or change anything in grub because no space....or i nodes.
I deleted my iniframs because it thought it was taking up space and i didnt need it . now im getting an error when trying to boot that i dont have the iniframs(i did attempt to generate a new iniframs but no space to do so). Im currently copying key folders from my nvme in the hope that i can reinstall arch and move these folders and have a working file system...
Im backing up with
sudo rsync -aAXv /mnt/ /media/mint/FAA03A6AA03A2D8F/Arch_linux_backup --exclude={"/media/mint/FAA03A6AA03A2D8F/*","/dev/*","/proc/*","/sys/*","/tmp/*","/run/*","/mnt/*","/media/*","/lost+found"}
My system doesnt have active encryption (think its called virtualisation encryption) ? i do have a cry.fs encrypted vault id also like to restore. Also a keybase application (i have the paper key noted down)
I do have 2 kernals installed , linux-linux and linux-zen (was going to use this if one of them gets corrupted) i did rewd that having your boot partition as 512 mb can cause issues.
I would appreciate the help , i have been building up my system over the 4 months and made it mine.
