I'm trying to set up a new Arch install, and I'm coming across an odd issue. When I try to boot the newly installed Arch system, it throws an error about how it can't find "device '' " and it's trying and failing to "mount device '' to real root", dropping me into an emergency shell when this fails. What sort of issue could be going on here? `mkinitcpio` seems to have finished successfully, though with one firmware issue; beyond that, I'm at a loss - this is a very inconvenient problem to search for!

Sounds like you didn't configure the root parameter in your bootloader/boot manager.

Seems plausible. I installed rEFInd and just ran `refind-install`, but maybe there's some more steps to it, especially from a chrooted half-installed system. If you have good reading / info on that I'd love to hear it; if not I'll just check the wiki tomorrow.

There are some more steps to it, read the section of: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/REFInd … _by_rEFInd for an adjustment you need to make so that refind can properly identify the kernel images it's supposed to boot

Thank y'all; reading further on that page and doing some more things has gotten me a booting install!
