Hi,
I just bought a new Notebook: Yoga Pro 9i Gen 9 (16" Intel).
- Intel® Core™ Ultra 9 185H
- NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 4070 Notebook-GPU 8GB GDDR6
I performed the step by step Arch installation. I installed nvidia and I performed those https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/NVIDIA … de_setting steps.
Using Gnome with GDM at the time where the Login Window has to appear I see only a black screen with a non-blinking horizontal cursor. I can't switch to the terminal at this time (non of the F-keys works).
I executed "mkinitcpio -P" of course.
I checked the boot log:
I checked all the DRM config with my running system - there is no difference.
I don't have any more ideas. I hope someone can help me out.
Thank you!

I think this is expected if you have the (proprietary) nvidia package installed. It is loaded as an external module into the kernel and therefore taints it.
The Nouveau Driver (https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Nouveau) does not cause this, but is often not on-par with regard to functionality compared to the nvidia drivers. Note that even though the text looks very red having a tainted kernel is usually not an issue.

Generally your singled out pieces are normal and also not cause of an issue.
Instead of screenshots post your full journal as text, best obtained via
sudo journalctl -b | curl -F 'file=@-' 0x0.stand post the resulting link assuming you can get a connection up.

I'm able to chroot into the system.
sudo journalctl -b | curl -F 'file=@-' 0x0.st
-- No entries --
sudo journalctl -b -1 | curl -F 'file=@-' 0x0.st

Unable to run X server - is the problem.
Installing xorg-server solved the problem!
I was thinking that it will use Wayland at the moment.
Thanks for the help with the journalctl!!
