Hamachi login not working

Hi, I am trying to get hamachi to work. I followed the steps in the wiki, and started the service. But when I run

hamachi login

it fails with the following output:

Logging in ..... failed

Output of 'hamachi':

System is completely up to date.

I can not help you with Hamachi, but have you tried an alternative solution? https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/ZeroTier
It is at least maintained in the official repos and for me, it works fine.

This one type of those questions: "Why do you try to use hamachi in the first place?" as in "it seems the wrong tool for the job" and hence going to be chasing down the rabbit's hole.
Yes, I, too, used hamachi - back on win xp - 15 years ago.
If, for some reason, you require a vpn for any puposes I would go the most simplest route: openvpn. But unless you tell us what it is you want to get done all we can is randomly guessing in the blue.

So I want to use it for multiplayer gaming basically. I have used it in the past (an year ago) on a very similar arch system to play Synergy mod for Half Life 2, as well as other games. I wanted to play that mod again.

I tried the 'better' approaches of port forwarding and using ZeroTier but they weren't working. Probably due to something wrong I'm doing. So I wanted to use something I knew for a fact worked with Synergy on Linux to see if the problem was with my port forwarding or Zero tier configuration or my game installation or something else.

If you have zerotier active on your pc and on your smartphone you should be able to ping your phone. This way, you can at least try to find out if it is working without someone else. You might check your firewall settings if you try to ping from your phone to your pc.
Have in mind, that you might need to "auth" every device connected to your zerotier network via the web interface

I can actually ping others using Zerotier. Just that in the game, it doesn't detect anyone else, and even using direct IP (I use the IP that zerotier assigns), it fails to connect. Tried this in more than one game (Synergy and Factorio). And yeah, all the devices have been authenticated in the web interface.

As for the firewall, it is disabled on both PCs using 'ufw disable'.

Btw, I just remembered that when I played Synergy the last time using Hamachi, my friend was playing on Windows. It only worked when he used to host the server. But when I used to host the server (from Linux), he was unable to connect to me, or even see me in the LAN list in-game. Now my friend is also on Linux, so maybe its a similar issue with broadcasting to others?
