how many of you use xcompmgr?

I know that XGL Compiz and Beryl are all the rage, but I was wondering how many of you use still use xcompmgr? Thing is, I use FVWM and I want to get some transparency. I think xcompmgr will do the trick, but I just want some feedback before I decide to do it.
BTW, does xcompmgr allow shadows? And does XFCE 4.4 have its built-in compositor?
Thanks,
basu

I used to use xcompmgr and it worked fine under gnome and xfce4 xfce4.4 has its own coposite and transparency which works fine aswell.

xcompmgr will do transparency and shadows, plus a few extra effects. It will also (probably) slow down and crash your computer. It's your choice whether it's worth it, but just know that there's a reason the world has moved on to Compiz etc.

Well, I'm perfectly happy with XFCE's compositing manager right now. Looks good, my system doesn't seem to be taking a performance hit yet. Anyway, FVWM configuration is too addictive.
