Create a smb.conf file to enable samba to share the Public folder

Hi everyone, as the title suggests, I would like to create a smb.conf file to make the Public folder in Home shareable.

I have Arch with KDE desktop environment, and I also installed the kdenetwork-filesharing package. As a firewall I use firewalld.

I've already seen these pages:

Arch Wiki Samba

Samba git repository

But unfortunately, not being an expert, I don't know what I need and what I don't need to do what I want and therefore I end up left with doubts.

Especially with the options I need for the smb.conf file, enabling the rest shouldn't be that difficult.

Could you clarify this doubt for me, please?

A thousand thanks

I can verify that you have doubts.

What do you have so far and what's the specific error message you're getting when trying what you have? If you haven't tried anything, go and try. Post your smb.conf and post actual error messages.

In the meantime, thanks for replying.

The fact is that the samba installation did not create a smb.conf file for me, which therefore does not currently exist.

The problem is that the smb.conf file doesn't exist at all. I installed samba with "sudo pacman -S samba", but it didn't generate this file.

You have already found the samba wiki page. It says that you have to write your own smb.conf and explains what to do.
