Install a .tar.gz

So I want to install a program, but the .tar.gz has no PKGBUILD, make and makepkg dont work, there is a also a deb provided wich i used in the past to install using debtap, but i did the exact same command, then install it with -U and it gives me nothing:

yay -U ./Downloads/hydra/hydralauncher-2.0.1-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst

looking for conflicting packages...
 there is nothing to do

P.S it also provides a snap, rpm and appimage are these better to install on arch?

Re: Install a .tar.gz

debtap gives you a starting point, that's it. As it says, it gives a dep of 'gtk' which you have to translate into an Arch package name.

Or let someone else do the work for you. https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/hydra-launcher-bin

Re: Install a .tar.gz

Boy, this is fuzzy.  Yes, it is used as a tool for copyright violation, but it is a tool and there seem to be legitimate use cases for the program itself.  It is certainly not alone in this class of programs. I will leave this open for the time being.  Never-the-less, there will be zero tolerance should this thread take a turn towards using this tool for illegal purposes.
