After a random amount of time (usually ~5 minutes) running specific Wine/Proton games, the game freezes my whole PC. I cannot kill the X server, go to other tty, or do anything except turn off the PSU. The last second of audio gets distorted and then played back on loop. Not all Wine games do this.
Affected games based on testing: Garry's Mod (Steam) using either the native build or Proton, Honkai Impact 3rd running using Wine Staging, vanilla DXVK and third-party launcher
Unaffected games: Half-Life, Half-Life 2 (either native or Proton), Half-Life 2 mods, Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain (all on Steam)
This only happens on specific games so I highly doubt it's a hardware issue like some people seem to say online...

Xorg log looks ok for a system with just an nvidia card .
Do you have a processor without an integrated intel cpu OR did you disable the iGpu in firmware (bios) ?
If either is true, confirm you installed lib32-nvidia-utils .
Incase that also is true :
boot the system and (try to) make it crash.
reboot
run jpournalctl -b -1 | curl -F 'file=@-' 0x0.st as root and post the link it outputs.
(the -1 is to get the log from the crashed/previous boot)
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky

I'm pretty sure I disabled my Intel UHD 630 iGPU in the BIOS. lib32-nvidia-utils is installed. http://0x0.st/Xm4M.txt

This only happens on specific games so I highly doubt it's a hardware issue like some people seem to say online...
Yeah, sure - because overall stress and access patterns would not differ between those games or would not relate of hardware issues.

Have you tried the behavior on the LTS kernel?

I could not find any weird config in BIOS. I couldn't find the stuff mentioned in the article either. There isn't even XMP or overclocking presets, for god's sake. This motherboard is as conservative as it gets. Installing linux-lts messed up my boot image, so no thanks. I am not going to install that old ahh kernel. I've had this CPU for like a year and a half and this is the first time this happens. I sure do hope this isn't a hardware issue.

The LTS kernel isn't "old" by any definition (6.6 was initially released ~7 months ago and the LTS kernel gets frequent updates) and installing that will not "mess up" whatever you think your "boot image" is.
If you mean that you ran out of space on your boot partition, first of all that's something that can be addressed in various ways, second: is there a parallel windows installation?
To debug a kernel halt, you'll have to setup https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Kdump (this might not work if CPU or RAM become unreliable)
Other things you could try are the nvidia-535xx-dkms driver from the AUR, re-enabling the IGP and running on that, limit the CPU ( https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Power_ … e)_support & https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/CPU_fr … requencies ) or blowing more air against the system (assuming this only started after it became summer)

Installing linux-lts messed up my boot image, so no thanks. I am not going to install that old ahh kernel.
The LTS kernel isn't "old" by any definition (6.6 was initially released ~7 months ago and the LTS kernel gets frequent updates) and installing that will not "mess up" whatever you think your "boot image" is.

Booting lts drops me into emergency shell lol. My boot partition is a humongous (not really) 500MiB. I'm gonna try limiting my cpu a little until it works. 70fps in game is better than no fps and system freeze. Also, weirdly enough, I switched to DXVK Async (?) and hi3 doesn't crash anymore so piece of shite Gmod is the only problematic game.
