Hello,
for the past months I tried again and again to get Wayland running on my hardware fluently but didn't manage to do so. Now let's see if it is a "me problem" and if I'm doing something wrong.
Problem:
When using Wayland the desktop lags more or less. E.g. the mouse movement is "chunky" and if I create a rectangular selection using the mouse the "selection frame" only gets visible with about 1s delay. Also opening menus is very slow and mouse hover effects are delayed. Interestingly this only happens directly on the desktop. As soon as an application (e.g. firefox) is in the foreground and the mouse moves above the application everything is smooth.
I'm having no problems when running on Xorg.
Hardware:
Intel UHD Graphics 630 and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Mobile using Optimus.
Versions:
nvidia-dkms 555.58-2
wayland 1.23.0-1
plasma-desktop 6.1.1-1
qt6-wayland 6.7.2-1
What I tried so far:
I followed different how tos but the behaviour is always the same. I enabled modesetting, added nvidia to initramfs and tried different parameters and settings. This link summarizes it quite good: https://www.reddit.com/r/kde/comments/1 … th_nvidia/. Generally using the NVIDIA card using prime-run works fine.
Does anybody have further hints on what to try or maybe even has plasma running fine on my hardware setup?
