[Solved] [XFCE4] USB Drive automounts in thunar using udiskie but...

A USB Drive automounts successfully in Thunar, and shows up as intended, and the file contents can be shown/edited/saved even in thunar/etc. But for whatever reason, the XFCE desktop refuses to show the USB Drive on the desktop, despite it being told to in settings. "using udiskie" would be the wrong approach for this. This needs to be handled by thunar's own volume manager for this to be registered in the proper spots: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Thunar … me_Manager

After doing this, do I need to reboot the system then? Since Thunar still complains gvfs isn't installed despite just installing it now.

minimally thunar/potentially xfce, probably easiest to just reboot, youn should also uninstall/disable udiskie as it will otherwise "steal" the device from gvfs mounting logic.

Yeah, I told octopi to remove udiskie + udisks2 at the same time as installing gvfs. So now it all works after rebooting once I installed gvfs.

you'll probably want to keep udisks2 since that is ultimately the daemon everyone else uses (... pacman "should" have prevented this since gvfs needs it just the same)

Oh, yeah, it did keep udisks2. That said, if I go to lxqt, what file manager do you recommend I get that's compatible with udiskie to show stuff on the desktop. or is whatever lxqt pulls able to use it?
