[Solved] Casting to Chromecast [I now use catt]

So I have examined now countless packages, read through seven threads on this matter and either the responders don't understand what the person is asking for the person asking is asking for something completely different, so apologies to any who has been here before.

I am looking to cast
either my entire desktop, a media player or a window
to my SmartTV or ChromeCast or whatever bloody device my roommate has.

I have looked at tons of posts around this and have gotten no where. Like I said, either the parties involved are confused or the post contained links to software that is now defunct or poorly written compare to the current linux ecosystem.
Let me know, I'm tired of researching something so meaningless right now, I was honestly trying to escape from other things, but this became just as frustrating.

Looks like there are a couple of options: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/List_o … a#Miracast

Sakura:-
Mobo: MSI MAG X570S TORPEDO MAX // Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X @4.9GHz // GFX: AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT // RAM: 32GB (4x 8GB) Corsair DDR4 (@ 3000MHz) // Storage: 1x 3TB HDD, 6x 1TB SSD, 2x 120GB SSD, 1x 275GB M2 SSD

Making lemonade from lemons since 2015.

Re: [Solved] Casting to Chromecast [I now use catt]

HA! I was not using the right search terms. "Screencast", imagine the pie on my face. Alright, will look into  it.
Addendum; I have looked into it and am experimenting with Miracle Cast, but so far getting nowhere. It doesn't appear there is an easy solution, which really surprises me. I would have thought someone would have made some piece of software for casting video over wifi..... I will keep digging and looking into this. Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree.

I've been using https://github.com/skorokithakis/catt for Chromecast successfully for the past couple of years.
