Wayland + Gnome: Thunderbird popups are hidden with mutter 46.3-1

Hello!

The weirdest thing happened today after upgrading mutter from 46.2-3 to 46.3-1: all popup windows from Thunderbird are hidden. They don't even show in the Gnome overview (after pressing the Windows key) and I could not alt-tab to them. The popup windows are there though: after pressing alt+F4 the Thunderbird main window becomes operational again. I rebooted again, but that did not help. Downgrading mutter to 46.2-3 did solve it.

Should I report this somewhere?

Same here, thanks for reporting, I was going crazy...

edit: when I start thunderbird from terminal, popups are visible again

Audacity appears to have the same problem. It was running but not displaying its main screen which is preceded by an initial popup. Downgrading mutter fixed it.

Same issue, same fix: Downgrading mutter helped. However it would be nice if someone could forward this issue to the devs. (I would do myself but I don't know where)

I reported this to the mutter development team already yesterday in their Gitlab. A fix seems to be underway.

mutter 46.3.1 was released and is also already available in Arch. This fixed the issue with Xwayland for me.

Yea, upgraded it as well

pacman -Q mutter
mutter 46.3.1-1

And it works fine again. Thanks for reporting it to the devs.
