Spectacle crashes with
could not activate remote peer 'org.kde.spectacle': startup job failedafter running it in the terminal I get
spectacle: error while loading shared libraries: libplacebo.so.338: cannot open shared object file: no such file or directorythe solution to fix it for me was to downgrade libplacebo to 6.338.2.
I wanted to report this as a bug but I just couldn't because I don't have an account on the gitlab and I don't seem to be able to make an account but I reported it upstream and was told its a packaging problem
since I was unable to bug report it on the gitlab this is the best I could do

email has been sent. I'm just worried about others experiencing the same problem

Ozzy_Helix_: it has been suggested that this was due to a partial upgrade. Can you confirm whether 'pacman -Syu' has resolved the issue for you, or do you need further assistance?

same here, full upgrade was done

running pacman -Syu didn't resolve it. it appears to me that spectacle wants a particular version of libplacebo and when it doesn't get it it throws an exception
Offline
Could you please share the version of spectacle and libplacebo? Also could you post your foreign packages (pacman -Qm)? I suspect this may be due to a ffmpeg version installed from the aur.

I tried installing a normal version of ffmpeg and it didn't help but I could try that again
Offline
ok you are correct I was wrong ffmpeg-amd-full was the problem I will report this to that AUR package maintainer and see if they can fix their pacakge
Offline
there's unlikely much he can or needs to do, you need to rebuild it against the new libplacebo and this is your responsibility when overriding system core packages.
Offline
No its not an issue of the AUR package per-se; you'll have to rebuild the package against the latest version of libplacebo.
Offline
I see I'll try rebuilding it then I just thought there might be a bug in how it worked not really sure but I will rebuild the package and see if it works
Offline
Arch Linux is still kind of new to me I've been using it since late 2020 but I am still kind of new to it sorry I apologize for any short coming. I am still very new to it
Offline
You probably shouldn't override core libs like ffmpeg with versions from the AUR if you don't have a real reason for it. That's one of the packages that need to get rebuilt against new library versions quite often.
Offline
my reason for doing so was to try and improve video encoding on my AMD card but I am unsure if continuing with this is a good idea
Offline
I'm sorry I should have just tried rebuilding my ffmpeg package I assumed it was a bug I'm sorry for wasting your time
