Mozilla FireFox and themes

Do anyone experienced problems with FireFox themes?

http://texturizer.net/firefox/themes/

I cannot install any of them, after installing, they're simply missing from the "Options" menu.

Re: Mozilla FireFox and themes

I installed firefox direct from the Mozilla website possibly as a binary (but I might have used makefile instructions provided) . Certainly there was a workable option when I sifted out the  various rpm options. The shell file was installed in  /usr/local/mozilla/firefox/firefox.

I guess you could try a parallel installation as a second user, and this means of course that you have to have to call that separate firefox shell file. Mozilla always advise that you first remove old versions and do not install over the top of them. I guess a paralell installation would be a bit different, though.

What the beep was that?

Re: Mozilla FireFox and themes

I believe many of the themes are outdated, I would suggest finding themes that are explicitly marked for the version your using. I'm currently using Bluecurved by lynchknot, his site is http://home.comcast.net/~lynchknot/phoenix.html, but just as with other sites, some of his themes have become outdated, the best idea is to find one that seems to work really well for you.

I would also suggest heading over to http://www.mozillazine.org for some great Optimised builds. They give you the newest features with the best possible speeds and I have yet to ever have a build completely fail on me.

I was going to say exactly the same.

Look, there is a new revision of mozilla-firefox ... revision 3.

Re: Mozilla FireFox and themes

Doubtful, but I wonder if it has anything to do with firefox being installed in /opt?

I just installed a theme no problem on my Slack box.

Where does the .jar file end up?

Re: Mozilla FireFox and themes

You guys need the "Themer" extenion in order to install themes that come as just downloadable .jar files. Firefox being installed in /opt/ has no effect on the usability of themes. If you XPI install a theme remember that you still have to select it. And I don't know if you nessesarily HAVE TO, but restart firefox because it will load the theme fully.
