[SOLVED] Spotify fails with gpu process isn't usable

I recently changed GPU from NVIDIA to AMD.

After the change spotify would no longer launch and fail with the following error:

fatal:gpu_data_manager_impl_private.cc(449)] gpu process isn't usable

After some time I was able to find out that the nvidia driver had left two entries in the /etc/environment file. These were:

LIBVA_DRIVER_NAME=vdpau
VDPAU_DRIVER=nvidia

These were preventing spotify to launch and were also preventing Hardware Video Acceleration from working.

Simply deleting or commenting them out solves the problem.

I leave this entry here, marked as solved, for anyone in the future having a similar issue to find.

The nvidia driver leaves none such files, you will have created that.

I'm pretty sure I didn't.

If the driver didn't create those entries, something else did.

Anyway, this is only for reference.

P.S.: the driver I was using was the nvidia-470xx
