Hello everyone
I am new to Arch and was able to make my way through the tutorials ![]()
What is a little embarrassing at the moment is that I fail to change the keyboard layout to sg-latin1 for Cinnamon running on Wayland.
The setting in the /etc/vconsole.conf is working just fine for the console.
When running the Keyboard app from the system settings I only see two tabs there 'Typing' and 'Shortcuts' but I cannot find a setting anywhere for changing the keyboard layout.
Running localectl from the console shows me:
System Locale: LANG=de_CH.UTF-8
VC Keymap: sg-latin1
X11 Layout: (unset)Do I have to set the X11 layout even when I am on Wayland?
I have tried running
localectl set-x11-keymap sg-latin1for a test but this only gives me Failed to set keymap: Specified keymap cannot be compiled, refusing as invalid.
Could anyone give me a hint to the right direction, please?

Doesn't work yet if this project trello and github bug report is to be believed: https://trello.com/c/TDSJ4CjX/30-no-keyboard-switching https://github.com/linuxmint/wayland/issues/14 -- Wayland on cinnamon is very much in alpha state from what I understand.

Thank you for your response, especially for pointing out the GitHub article.
So Cinnamon is not yet an option for me. Or Wayland. Or both ![]()
