[solved] Missing refresh rate 4k 240hz monitor

My solution:
1) Add the 240hz option through Windows CRU utility and export the bin file. There could be other EDID editor out there that works the same way eg. AW EDID Editor

You will need to add a new Extension blocks. These are the steps: Extension blocks > Add > Type DisplayID 2.0 > Add > Detailed resolutions > Add > Timing Automatic PC > 3840 2160 240Hz. Save it.

2) Follow instructions here > https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Kernel … s_and_EDID.
3) Add the .bin file location to your mkinitcpio config file and regenerate initramfs (see 2.2.1 from link at step 2)

Gotten a new 4k 240hz monitor (Samsung G80SD), KDE Wayland is not giving me the option for 240hz, the options are 30,60, and 120 only.
I am using display port from 7900xt. 240hz works in Windows with the same hardware and cable, could it be wonky DSC?

Some of the troubleshooting I have tried
1 - Adding xrandr new mode in X11 can get 240hz but I prefer to stay in Wayland for better HDR support
2 - EDID editing, stuck here as I am unsure on how to get 240hz in

I get the same error with stock EDID.bin file, both giving this EDID conformity: FAIL from https://people.freedesktop.org/~imirkin/edid-decode/

Re: [solved] Missing refresh rate 4k 240hz monitor

Ok found the problem with EDID - I didn't update the mkinitcpio and regen the initramfs. Will update first post with solution.
Adaptive sync is missing now though, but that's for another troubleshooting session.
