So I am running KDE, Plasma, Wayland, Dolphin screech, etc......
Okay, so I have a bunch of Video files which could be categorized variously under Genre, Director, Studio and so on. They all exist in my video library which presents itself like a shifty windows computer circa 2009, sideways Quicksilver flat-brim included (yes, my computer has no sense of style; for which it will be flogged). All this being said, I'd like to get in and fiddle with the metadata so that I can better sort my library and maintain a clear manifest of information on these files without including it in the filename as is so often the case for the.... video repositories which are shared sporadically throughout the internet.
The formats I work in are usually Matroska, but sometime Mpeg4, and rarely anything more primitive. You guys run linux, you know what I'm talking about, you remember the good ol' days.
All jokes aside, I'd really appreciate some advice in terms of software choice. I'm not lost in the weeds so much as drowning in options.

This is a tech support forum, no need to add halp or help to the title (especiaily with caps) . Please remove that part.
Your post comes over as 2 short parts and one large <wall of text> .
Are you specifically looking for software that can change metadata inside container formats or sw to organize your video library ?
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky

Thank you, I did not realize my inappropriate behavior. Preferably not a software solution. I prefer to organize in my directories; but I'm open to suggestions. I have a large collection of digital media of backed up films from my BluRay days just before Netflix went chill.
