black screen and type cursor (_) upon waking from sleep

gpus: nvidia gtx 1050 ti (plugged into vga monitor via hdmi cable), igpu is intel hd 2000
cpu: i7 2600
desktop environment: kde plasma

ive tried other desktop environments like budgie and i don't have the issue there

edit: alt+f2 shows blinking cursor but that's it, typing in my password doesnt log in
edit 2: its now happening when i switch to budgie!

I guess your issue is related to KDE-Bug 48163 and / or KDE-Bug 477738 which is referenced there: May be, you want to add your experiences there ...

are there any fixes to the problem? im still having similar experiences on other DEs

The KDE bug suggests

- Switching to a virtual console and back returns the UI

If that's not the case for you

pacman -Qs nvidia
