I've never touched the RAM inside it.
It might be beneficial for the RMA if you leave it this way - otherwise you open the case, access the DIMM, retract it, make sure the golden connection pads don't look scratched or so and re-insert it and check whether it now responds.
Given that this is a very new system, I'm guessing it was sold to me in this condition
your probably want to RMA it, make a screenshot/photo of the memtest86+ errors to support your claim and only if the vendor asks you to inspect the RAM (if there're two DIMMs maybe only one is bad) you should do so.
