Keep Network / eth connection alive on suspend / lock session? kde x11

Hello,

I was wondering if and how it's possible to keep the network connection alive when the system goes in to s2idle and locks the session.
However I did not really find anything useful during my search aside from wifi on laptops and power management.

I was hoping to be pointed in to right direction or a possible solution here.
It would be nice to have the ethernet connection to stay up without it getting disconnected or interrupted in the first place when my desktop goes in to s2idle.

I am on KDE Plasma, x11.
Not sure if this is relevant but:

sudo ethtool enp8s0 | grep Wake-on
        Supports Wake-on: pumbg
        Wake-on: g

recent journal grep with relevant interface  https://0x0.st/XWiV.txt

e: maybe I am asking the wrong question. The issue is not that there is a drop of the ethernet connection but rather the resulting automatic reconnect of some applications running in wine not being as fast as I would like them to be.
I was hoping to resolve that with ethernet keep alive but after reading journal and freezing of userspace processes .. I am not sure anymore.

anyways thank in advance for anything helpful smile
