**Dual Nvidia GPU Configuration Issues**
I'm hoping someone can offer some guidance on a problem I've been experiencing with my dual Nvidia GPU setup.
**System Configuration:**
* 1 x Nvidia RTX 3080
* 1 x Nvidia 1070
* Running Hyprland and xwayland
**Background:**
I have a legitimate use for both GPUs in my system, as I occasionally utilize them for compute-intensive tasks. Currently, I'm using the proprietary driver (due to its more complete feature set for gaming and specific monitoring tools). Compute works flawlessly with both GPUs split between them.
**Issue Description:**
However, whenever I launch applications that require Xorg, it defaults to the 1070 GPU and then feeds it back to the 3080. This issue is particularly problematic when gaming, as it leads to significant performance degradation.
**Troubleshooting Attempts:**
* Tried using Prime (to no avail)
* Created a custom xorg config, defining only the 3080 GPU (with no success)
**Seeking Advice:**
I was hesitant to post this question due to the abundance of similar queries involving integrated and dedicated GPU combinations. I'd greatly appreciate any experience or guidance anyone can offer regarding this specific issue.
** Update **
I swapped the position of the cards so that the 3080 is in the second slot and the 1070 is in the first slot. I did this because I noticed that the 3080 was labeled as device 1 and the 1070 in slot 2 was labeled as device 0. Every method I tried was defaulting to device 0 no matter the params I set. Swapping the cards so that the 1070 is now in the top slot and the 3080 is in the 2nd slot. This works as expected now since the 3080 in the second slot reports as device 0. The only issue with that now is the more powerful 3080 has access to 1x lanes. The next thing I am going to check is the bios to see if there is a way to set priority for the slots. If anyone knows how to override this in a config in the OS that would be extremely helpful.
