I know that there are currently no plans to change the logo of archlinux and I believe its very unlikely that this could be the new one, but anyway I thought sharing would be a good idea...what do you think?

I personally love the current archlinux logo.
It's easy, printed with just two colors, what's nice for getting some shirts with the logo on it.
I love eye candy - on a desktop - but for logos and pages i like simple layouts with less colors and not too much overhead.

I agree with STiAT.
Don't missunderstand me, your wallpapers and themes are great!!
but the logo should be more simple...

You are right...it should be more simple...what about this?

I do not really like those multiple arches at all - I rather prefer the simple logo we have now.
In fact, the logo was one of the main factors, convincing me to switch to arch, so I would like to keep it further.
Nontheless, your work looks great.

The current logo always reminds me of star trek (I'm not really sure why, but I personally think that star trek is really boring and I can't understand why so many computer geeks love it)...I think the text is nice and the black arch too, but the blue one looks borked, especially the rounded left starting point of the blue arch doesn't fit in my eyes.

I think you should reduce the number of arches in the smaller logos, or if you want to keep them all, make them varying shades of blue.
BTW, you might want you to make a KBFX button featuring Arch in some way, I think the KDE users will dig it.

I see nothing wrong with the current logo and you know what they say ... "If it ain't broken don't fix it".

freigeist; that last one was truly _beatiful_.
I welcome this. The current official logo is really boring...

Nice work, really liking the simplified version.
Sure there are no plans to change anything officially but I think you should feel free to contribute more of your artwork to the forum!

I like the current logo, and I like star trek

To me there's no reason to have any one single official logo. I don't think even the arch logo on the site could be called 'official' -- they're all sort of semi-official. That's the beauty of Arch, you can customize it to be what you want; those that like one logo can choose that one and others can choose other logos. In that frame of light, thanks for contributing!

Yeah, we like to pretend that branding and product identity mean shit round here; we're above all that common business sense rubbish.

If it were.. I would submit a request for a merit based raise for you phrakture.

I like your work, but Arch logo should stay as it is now.
It's not important what color scheme or style some particular logo will have, we can have a bunch of them. But the most important part is the "A" sign (or whatever it looks like for other people).
Arch logo is already widely known, and changing it will do cause problems and will confuse people. There will be time needed to make the new logo widely known.
And there's no point in changing current logo IMO (it doesn't matter how nice or cool new logo can be).

I agree that the current arch logo is goo (when compared to the 4 arches thing), though I personally don't see a problem with "jazzing it up" a bit - that is, running with the lightblue arch on top of a black arch and making something "fresh" with it....

I don't know, but IMHO this new proposed logo, looks more commercially appealing than the current one. Well we have to face the truth we need to think commercially, like freeBSD did, and change the logo to a more professional oriented one. Just my 2 Cents.

i like the current logo..but those are sexy!. i definately think the current logo could use some updating.. or sexing up, if you will.

Well,
I am not into Arch anymore (stupid lack of time - tho I lurk here often, hoping I can get into it again), so probably nobody really cares about my vote anymore, but if there's one thing about Arch that I didn't like it has always been the logo.
These new ones by Freigeist are really professional (-looking) logo's - the kind I'm jealous of (I sometimes try to produce a logo myself).
Then again, I guess it's a matter of personal taste.

Wow! Nice job, they look great. I think they should be accepted as a logo for a future release perhaps. Great job, keep it up!

The only criticism I can offer to the logo in this thread, is that its identifiability is drastically reduced when scaled down. The current arch logo is readily identifiable even at smaller sizes (like the favicon for instance).
