Thanks for making my WACOM work! :-)

I had it working as a mouse for quite a while, but somehow The GIMP never recognized the pressure feature. Since the upgrade to GTK 2.4 a week ago, it suddenly started working. I think it was because of the added --with-xinput=yes. Anyway, very cool!

Re: Thanks for making my WACOM work! :-)

Could you post your configs (I suppose its x and usb hotplug or something else) for your wacom? I was going to try to use my old wacom tablet with my archlinux desktop (in addtition to mouse) and since yours is already working this would speed things up for me (where is no other thread in the forums about wacom). Tnx in advance.

Re: Thanks for making my WACOM work! :-)

Ok, you'll need to go to http://linuxwacom.sourceforge.net/. There are two things I had to change on my system to get it to work:

1. Replace your /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/input/wacom_drv.o (X11 wacom driver) with the wacom_drv.o_4.3k2.6 file in the production release of The Linux Wacom Project.

2. Add the three input devices (the stylus, eraser and cursor of your WACOM tablet) to your XF86Config as described here.

If it's still not working, feel free to ask me, or resort to read more documentation. I have a Graphire2. Also, the above might only be enough if you're running the 2.6.5 kernel and XFree86 4.4 (latest Arch versions). You might also want to take a 3rd step, which is compiling some of the tools in the linuxwacom package for doing some diagnostics.

For getting it to work in The GIMP, all you need to do is go into the GIMP settings and configure the extended input devices to something else than Disabled.

Relevent loaded modules I have are "evdev" and "wacom", but they seem to get loaded automatically, and I don't use hotplug. I do compile my own kernel though, but I don't recall changing anything for the WACOM.

Yes I've browsed these docs. Seems that it will take some time to set it up and test. Right now I'm still using 2.4.25 but I plan to have 2.6 installed to. Just need some free time. As usually :-)
Thanks for the tips again - now I know what to concentrate on.
