Hi there,
A family member's computer has a weird problem, he noticed this issue months ago but only brings it up now, so it's hard to trace it back to a specific system upgrade.
Environment:
- Archlinux X86_64, updated to 2024-08-26
- Xfce (X11)
Symptoms:
- After logging in the desktop the 1st time, clicking application icons on the Desktop / Panel / Whisker Menu has no response
- during this 1st login, there's NO prompt for entering password to unlock keyring, which is required to auto-start apps like Nextcloud / Chromium
- mouse can still move around, luckily i can still click the icons for Log Out / Restart (xfce4-session-logout)
- I have to log out (without reboot), then log back in
- Then everything becomes normal: a keyring prompt starts, after entering password, Nextcloud starts, all icons become clickable
Things I tried:
1. I thought the problem was caused by using x-server auto-login, so i revert it back to the default config, but it has no effects.

2. I vaguely remember months ago i might have changed the user/root password, so i tried to change it back to the old ones, but it has no effects.
3. I installed seahorse to check keyrings, and did not notice anything out of the ordinary.
4. I tried cleaning "saved sessions" in xfce settings, no effects.
5. I tried to look it up here but maybe i used wrong key words and couldn't find much.
Really appreciate it if someone could point me to the right direction.
Thank you very much!
