Only crackling sound through headphones

Hi
I'm new to arch and I'm trying make sound work on my Asus Zenbook UX3405MA . I followed the wiki and installed pulseaudio. But when i plug my headphones i only hear crackling sounds. Weirdly when i plug and unplug the headphones sound comes through the speaker for 3 seconds and mutes automatically. When muting my headphones in alsamixer the speaker mutes itself. The speaker works fine if both headphone and speaker are not muted in alsamixer but when i mute headphone the audio stops playing after 3 seconds. In pavucontrol configuration section i see 3 configurations but none seem to work. I can provide more info if needed. Any help is appreciated.

The alsa packages I have is,
alsa-card-profiles 1:1.2.3-1
alsa-lib 1.2.12-1
alsa-plugins 1:1.2.12-3
alsa-tools 1.2.11-1
alsa-topology-conf 1.2.5.1-4
alsa-ucm-conf 1.2.12-1
alsa-utils 1.2.12-1

The pulseaudio package I have is,
pulseaudio 17.0-3
pulseaudio-bluetooth 17.0-3
pulseaudio-jack 17.0-3

Re: Only crackling sound through headphones

The fact you have alsa-card-profiles might point to having other parts of the pipewire-audio stack as well. Particular wireplumber and pulseaudio will logically conflict with each other by default.

If you want to be "future-proof" drop pulseaudio in favor of pipewire-pulse and check how things behave then.

Other than that, maybe post during active playback the outputs from

sudo fuser -v /dev/snd/*
aplay -lL
amixer -c0 #Or whatever the correct index is
pactl list cards
pactl list sinks
pactl list sink-inputs

wrapped in [ code ] [ /code ] tags without the spaces.

Re: Only crackling sound through headphones

After removing pulseaudio and installing pipewire i get no audio through my speakers. But the crackling sound continues in my headphones.

Heres the output of the following commands,

sudo fuser -v /dev/snd/*

/dev/snd/controlC0: pc 1102 F.... pipewire

Edit: When plugging in my headphones the sound controller changes from Play HiFi quality Music(HDMI1, HDMI2, HDMI3, Headphones, Mic1, Mic2) to Play HiFi quality Music(HDMI1, HDMI2, HDMI3, Mic1, Mic2, Speaker). After this sound plays from speaker for 3 seconds and mutes. When I unmute headphones in alsa mixer sound plays in speaker. The behavior is same as before.

Re: Only crackling sound through headphones

Fixed it by adding the following line in /etc/modprobe.d/audio-jack.conf

options snd_hda_intel model=headset-mode

Edit:
The above code did not fix the problem completely. The issue is with the audio chipset ALC294 and dual booting windows and linux. To fix it make a bash script file and include this in it:

#!/bin/bash
sudo hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC1D0 0x20 0x500 0x1b
sudo hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC1D0 0x20 0x477 0x4a4b
sudo hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC1D0 0x20 0x500 0xf
sudo hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC1D0 0x20 0x477 0x74

Make it executable and run it every time you go into windows and come back.
Hope it helps someone.
